Associate Of Applied Science: Professional Golf And Golf Complex Management - PGGCM
Program Description
This Associate of Applied Science degree program in Professional Golf and Golf Complexes Management (PGGCM) offers a vast array of golf subjects in which students may be desirous of gaining more knowledge or pursuing a career.
Additionally, internship opportunities provide hands-on exposure to relevant fields. The experiential and theoretical foundations acquired together serve to fast-track students into many golf-related careers.
Program Objectives
The educational objectives of the PGGCM program are to provide:
- Theoretical information and practical skills, for many exciting and fulfilling golf industry careers
- Business, communication, humanities, social sciences, mathematics and general sciences which are all important supporting skills for golf
- Critical thinking skills for the game of golf and the business of golf
- Communication skills – written and oral – that are essential to any field of endeavor
- The history, culture and traditions of the game of golf
- An appreciation for diversity and ethical principles in golf
Program Learning Outcomes
- Knowledge and Proficiency – demonstrate knowledge of the game of golf and other golf-related subjects and proficiency in playing golf as well as in the practical aspects of golf-related subjects.
- Critical Thinking – exercise critical thinking with respect to golf-related information, data and technology. Exhibit quantitative reasoning in judgment, decision making, and problem solving.
- Information Utilization – locate and utilize a variety of types of golf-related information accurately and appropriately for each PGM course.
- Communication Skills – effectively communicate to an audience professionally and effectively in written and oral forms, with well-organized thoughts, ideas and opinions.
- Diversity awareness – exhibit an understanding of, and respect for, diversity of individuals, groups, and cultures in golf.
- Ethics – exhibit the knowledge, understanding and demonstration of ethical principles in all golf-related fields
Graduation Requirements
A candidate for the Associate of Applied Science degree shall have:
- Successfully completed the PGGCM program’s 92 quarter units of coursework requirement with a minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.0 or better in all coursework undertaken at SU for the AAS degree.
- Successfully completed all degree requirements within the maximum time limit allowed for the AAS degree, four (4) years, or within an officially approved time extension.
- Filed all the necessary graduation forms in accordance with timelines provided by the Department of PGGCM and the university’s Office of Admissions and Records.
- Settled all outstanding financial obligations to Stanton University.
Student Academic Load
A full-time academic load in a PGGCM associate degree program is twelve (12) units or more per quarter. Students may not enroll for more than twenty (20) units in a regular quarter without the approval of the academic department.
Required Courses for the PGGCM Associate Degree – total 92 units, of which a minimum of 60 quarter units of Major Core Curriculum courses, 8 units elective courses, and 24 units general education courses.
